Privacy Policy
e1099f is an IRS-authorized information-return transmitter operated by LEIRAD GROUP LLC. To prepare and transmit your 1099 information returns we necessarily handle sensitive personal and financial information, including Taxpayer Identification Numbers (SSNs/EINs). Protecting that information is core to our service. This policy explains what we collect, how we use and protect it, with whom we share it, how long we keep it, and the choices and rights you have. It applies to the e1099f website and application at e1099f.com (the "Service").
Information we collect
- Account data — your name, email, phone, and login credentials.
- Filing data you provide — payer (business) details, recipient names and addresses, Taxpayer Identification Numbers, and dollar amounts for the forms you file.
- QuickBooks Online data — if you connect QuickBooks Online, the data you authorize us to import via Intuit's API (described in the next section).
- Payment data — processed by our payment provider (Stripe). We do not store full card numbers; we retain only a payment reference and the last four digits.
- Usage and device data — logs, IP address, browser/device metadata, and error reports needed to operate, secure, and debug the Service.
QuickBooks Online data — what we access and why
When you connect QuickBooks Online, you authorize e1099f through Intuit's OAuth 2.0 flow using the
accounting scope (com.intuit.quickbooks.accounting). We never receive your Intuit
password. Using read access, we retrieve only the data needed to prepare your 1099 returns:
- Company information (legal name and address of the connected company);
- Vendors, including 1099-tracking status and Taxpayer Identification Number;
- Vendor-related transactions (purchases, bill payments) and the expense accounts they hit, used to compute reportable amounts by box;
- Chart-of-accounts and company preferences (such as cash- vs. accrual-basis) needed to map and total payments correctly.
We use QuickBooks data solely to provide the Service to you — to identify 1099-reportable vendors and amounts and to populate your draft returns for your review. We do not sell QuickBooks data, do not use it for advertising or marketing, and do not share it with third parties except the service providers and government agencies listed below that are necessary to deliver the Service. Our handling of Intuit data is, at a minimum, as protective as the Intuit Privacy Statement and complies with the Intuit Developer terms.
How we use your information
We use your information only to provide and support the Service: to prepare your information returns, transmit them to the IRS (and to states and the SSA where applicable), furnish recipient copies you request, verify TINs you elect to check, process payment, secure and maintain the Service, and communicate with you about your account. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your filing or QuickBooks data for advertising.
How we share your information
- Government agencies — the IRS (via IRIS), and states/SSA when you choose those filings.
- Service providers (sub-processors) — cloud hosting (Google Cloud Platform), payment processing (Stripe), transactional email (Microsoft 365), address verification and mailing (USPS), each only to the extent needed to perform their function and under obligations of confidentiality and security.
- Legal and safety — when required by law, to comply with legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of users, the public, or us.
- Business transfer — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this policy.
We do not sell your personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
How we protect your information
We transmit data over TLS 1.2 or higher. Taxpayer Identification Numbers, OAuth tokens, and transmitted XML are encrypted at rest. Access is restricted to your account and to authorized personnel on a need-to-know basis. See our Security page for detail. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure; if a breach affecting your data occurs, we will notify affected users and authorities as required by applicable law.
Because we handle nonpublic personal and financial information, we maintain a written information security program with administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect that information, consistent with the FTC Safeguards Rule under the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (16 CFR Part 314) and IRS Publication 4557. These safeguards include access controls, encryption of Taxpayer Identification Numbers and tokens at rest, monitoring and logging, and regular review of our controls and service providers.
Data retention and deletion
We retain filing records for the period required to support corrections, recipient furnishing, and applicable IRS recordkeeping rules — generally at least four years after the filing due date — then delete or de-identify them. Account and payment records are retained for the period required by applicable tax, accounting, and legal obligations.
Disconnecting QuickBooks. You may disconnect QuickBooks Online at any time from the integrations page in the Service. When you disconnect, we revoke our access and refresh tokens with Intuit and stop importing new data from that company. You may request deletion of the QuickBooks-derived data we hold, and we will delete or de-identify it except where we must retain records to support returns already prepared or filed, or as otherwise required by law.
Closing your account. On account closure you may request deletion of your personal data; we will honor the request subject to the recordkeeping obligations above.
Your rights and choices
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell your personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, so there is no sale or targeted-advertising activity to opt out of.
California residents (CCPA/CPRA) have the rights to know, access, correct, and delete personal information, to opt out of sale/sharing, to limit the use of sensitive personal information, and to be free from discrimination for exercising these rights. Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, and other state-privacy-law residents have comparable rights to access, correct, delete, and port their data and to opt out of sale and targeted advertising. EU/UK residents have rights under the GDPR including access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below; we will verify your request and respond within the timeframes required by applicable law, and you will not be discriminated against for exercising your rights. You may also disconnect QuickBooks at any time as described above.
